We support Israel!
Israel is a small, imperfect nation, yet it is central to world on-goings. Not by their choice, but because God chose them! And they remain central to God’s on-going plan for the world!
Many wonder why such a small nation seems to be so central to world on-goings. Aside from its central role in spiritual things, there are a couple ‘wordly’ things that are problematic for people.
First, the nation stands (not always – but overall) for moral absolutes; there is a God who defines what is right and wrong – it is not up to people. Many, many people, even Christians, don’t like that idea. People from the very beginning have wanted to ‘be like God and be the ones to define right and wrong’ (read the story of Adam and Eve in the early chapters of the book of Genesis in the Bible). So, if Israel is gone, the last bastion of ‘moral absolutism’ is removed. You may think that Christianity has taken over that role. Sorry – it never has. Christianity is fractured with literally thousands of different groups, many at odds with the others, saying different things.
The second thing is that Israel, and by definition the Jewish people, still have a role in God’s plan. This has not been, and never will be, usurped by Christianity. True, Jews and Gentiles (Christians) are equal before God, but their roles are not. The prophets attest to this.
